Trips will not be cancelled or rescheduled due to weather or snow conditions.

Reservations are non-transferable.

Selkirk Lodge reserves the right to cancel or reschedule trips. In the event that Selkirk Lodge needs to cancel a trip for reasons that are within our exclusive control, and at our discretion, a full refund will be issued.

Selkirk Lodge will not issue refunds for cancellations due to forces beyond our control including, but not limited to: natural disasters, road or border closures, travel restrictions or advisories, states of emergency, outbreaks, bad weather and land restrictions or closures.

Selkirk Lodge will not issue refunds if you cancel or miss your trip for any reason, including but not limited to: delayed or cancelled flights, border delays or closures, travel restrictions or advisories, road delays or closures, personal or business emergencies, injury or illness. You will need to contact your trip insurance provider to recover any funds.

For Independent Guide and Group Booking reservations, any individual guest cancellations will be handled by the Independent Guide, or Group Booking trip organizer. Selkirk Lodge will not issue refunds for individuals who cancel on Group or Independent Guide bookings, and is not responsible for finding replacements.

Selkirk Lodge reserves the right to remove a guest from a Selkirk Lodge trip at any time, at our sole discretion, for inappropriate behaviour including but not limited to:  endangerment of self, other guests, staff or guides, harassment or disrespectful behavior towards any individuals present, vandalism of Selkirk Lodge property, failure to follow safety and/or hygiene procedures around the lodge, failure to follow the direction of guides or staff. No refunds will be issued under such circumstances, and the offending party will be responsible for any costs incurred.

We STRONGLY recommend that you purchase trip cancellation and interruption insurance upon booking. Please note that most insurance providers will offer the most comprehensive insurance if you purchase trip insurance immediately after paying for your trip to Selkirk Lodge. A delay in purchasing insurance may leave you with a less desirable insurance policy that offers less coverage. Additional COVID-19 related cancellation information for single space reservations through Selkirk Lodge:

If you develop cold, flu, or COVID-19 symptoms, are exposed to a confirmed COVID-19 case, or test positive for COVID-19 within 14 days of your trip start date, cancellation of your trip to Selkirk Lodge is mandatory and you will need to isolate.

If you are unable to attend your trip due to COVID-19 symptoms or exposure, Selkirk Lodge will endeavour to find a replacement, in which case you may receive partial refund. Afterall, we are all in this together! Refunds will reflect a 10% administrative fee retained by Selkirk Lodge, and will also take into account whether or not Selkirk Lodge is able to fill the space at full price. Your best bet for receiving a partial refund is to let us know as early as you can. If Selkirk Lodge can not fill your space with a guest from our waitlist, we may ask that you work with us to find a replacement. If you find a replacement, Selkirk Lodge will need to provide approval, as great care is taken to ensure good group dynamics on our trips.

Additional COVID-19 related cancellation information for Group Bookings and Independent Guides:

All individual guest cancellations will be handled by the Trip Organizer or Independent Guide. Selkirk Lodge will not issue refunds for individuals who cancel on group or independent guide bookings, and is not responsible for finding replacements.

If anyone in your group develops cold, flu, or COVID-19 symptoms, are exposed to a confirmed COVID-19 case, or test positive for COVID-19 within 14 days of your trip start date, cancellation of that individual’s trip to Selkirk Lodge is mandatory. In this instance, our standard Cancellation Policy still applies.

Due to the potentially increased likelihood of last minute cancellations due to COVID-19 related symptoms or exposure, Selkirk Lodge recommends that Independent Guides and Group Booking trip organizers maintain a waitlist, in order to fill these last minute cancellations, so that you may be able to offer a refund of some kind to the cancelled guest. Selkirk Lodge is not responsible for providing refunds or filling last minute spaces on Group Booking and Independent Guide trips, as the guest list is up to you.

However, we are all in this together, so we want you to know that we are not necessarily opposed to trying to help you fill last minute COVID-19 related cancellations, though we can not make any guarantees, and we can not provide refunds in the event that we are unable to help you fill the space. We ask that you manage these situations on your own, but if you find yourself requiring assistance to fill these last minute spaces, we may be open to working with you on this as time allows. Please recognize that both Joel and Kate are incredibly busy once the winter season kicks off. Our official policy is to remain hands off, but we understand the difficulties everyone is currently facing, and we do not wish to intentionally make things more difficult for anyone. As always, our policy is clear and open communication, and doing our best to manage a challenging and ever-evolving situation.

Emergency Evacuation

Selkirk Lodge is not responsible for any costs associated with emergency evacuation whether it be medical, injury, or personal emergency. Guests are responsible for all costs associated with evacuation, including but not limited to: helicopter evacuation, ambulance, accommodation, travel or medical expenses.

Insurance

A ski touring trip in BC is, without doubt, an amazing adventure. However, it doesn’t have to be a risky leap of faith into the unknown. Purchasing the appropriate travel, cancellation, trip interruption, and medical insurance for your trip is a critical step in protecting your investment and ensuring you peace of mind.

While we work to mitigate the risks associated with these types of adventures, including COVID-19, there is no substitute for comprehensive trip insurance to take care of any unforeseen expenses that may arise due to trip cancellation, trip interruption, emergency evacuation and medical coverage. Over the years, the frequency and ease of travelling has led us all to be somewhat complacent around trip insurance. Our current times are a stark reminder that when it comes to travel, not having insurance is a risk not worth taking.

It is vital to get comprehensive insurance to cover any trip you take, but especially a backcountry adventure. As you will be out in the mountains everyday, it’s crucial that you have a policy that includes backcountry skiing/snowboarding and emergency evacuation, as well as appropriate medical coverage if you reside outside of British Columbia. Please ensure that your insurance also covers unexpected losses or expenses e.g. lost luggage, stolen cash and credit cards or cancelled/missed flights.

Selkirk Lodge does not offer refunds for cancellations, does not cover any emergency evacuation costs, and does not refund any money for trip delays or interruption. We STRONGLY recommend that you purchase a trip insurance policy that covers you for cancellation, trip interruption, emergency evacuation and medical expenses.
