Selkirk Lodge COVID-19 Information
2020/2021 Winter Ski Season
Due to the current global pandemic and the uncertainties that lie ahead, Selkirk Lodge will remain closed for the winter 2020/2021 ski season. We wish you all the best in the coming months and hope to see you all again, happy and healthy, on the other side of this. We are hopeful to have a summer mountaineering and hiking program up and running in the summer of 2021, and we are very much looking forward to operating for the winter 2021/2022 ski season. If you are interested in booking either a summer 2021 or winter 2021/2022 trip with us, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org to talk about dates and options.
Thanks and be well,
Joel and Kate
2021/2022 Winter Ski Season
Given the ever-evolving nature of the COVID-19 pandemic, Selkirk Lodge has made some special considerations for our winter 2021/2022 ski season. We realize that 2022 may be a long way out, but if this pandemic has taught us anything, it is that we need to be patient, and adaptable. With uncertainties surrounding things like COVID variants, vaccine production delays, vaccine rollouts around the world, real-world vaccine efficacy and immunity timelines, we are trying to be realistic when it comes to planning for the next ski season. With this in mind, we are planning for reduced group sizes of 10 guests, rather than our previous 14. All of Selkirk Lodge’s COVID-19 policies are based on industry best practices outlined by the Backcountry Lodges of British Columbia Association, the ACMG, WorkSafe BC and the BC Public Health Office. We ask for your understanding regarding the constantly changing landscape of this situation, and recognize that COVID-19 policies and practices are subject to change as we move through this together. The most up to date and detailed information can be found in our COVID-19 Safety Plan, please take the time to read through it if you are planning a trip with us.
COVID 19 Cancellation Information for the 2021/2022 Winter Ski Season
If you develop cold, flu, or COVID-19 symptoms or are exposed to a confirmed COVID-19 case within 14 days of your trip start date, cancellation of your trip to Selkirk Lodge is mandatory. Depending on what kind of trip you are on, you need to contact either Selkirk Lodge, your trip organizer, or your Independent Guide as soon as possible.
Please read our full Cancellation Policy, which outlines any specific COVID-19 related cancellation policy adjustments for your specific reservation type.
Due to the potentially increased likelihood of last minute guest cancellations due to COVID-19 related symptoms or exposure, Selkirk Lodge recommends that Independent Guides and Group Booking trip organizers maintain a waitlist, in order to fill these last minute cancellations, so that you may be able to offer a refund of some kind to the cancelled guest. Selkirk Lodge is not responsible for providing refunds or filling last minute spaces on any trips.
Pre-Trip Declaration of Health and Exposure
Under the current health guidelines and quarantine laws, every person attending a backcountry lodge trip is required to sign a Pre-Trip Declaration of Health and Exposure, which includes an attestation that you have not travelled outside of Canada in the 14 days prior to your trip. Canada currently has a mandatory 14 day quarantine in effect for any person entering the country. This is required by law under the Quarantine Act. Of course this may change in time for the next ski season, but please be aware that the potential exists for these rules to remain in place, and for all international individuals to be required to quarantine upon arrival, and to sign this declaration prior to Selkirk Lodge trips for the 2021/2022 ski season.
Travel Restrictions and Quarantine Requirements
Selkirk Lodge can not guarantee that there will be any changes to the current travel restrictions, travel advisories, or quarantine laws associated with travel to, or within Canada in time for your trip. By making a reservation with us, you do so knowing that travel restrictions/advisories and quarantine laws may prevent you from participating in your trip to Selkirk Lodge, or add time and expense to your trip, and that no refunds will be issued.
